DAY 1

Upon disembarkation in Port Elizabeth, you are met and transferred to Shamwari Game Reserve. The travel time is approximately 1.5 hours drive.

Overlooking the magnificent plains of Shamwari you’ll find the exquisite Long Lee Manor. This newly redesigned lodge boasts Edwardian styled suites and a stupendous rim-flow pool. Long Lee Manor redefines elegance in nature.

DAY 2

After an early morning wake up call, enjoy tea/coffee and biscuits before you head out into the wild for an early morning game drive in search of the Big Five and countless other fascinating creatures that make their home in the Eastern Cape.

Return to the lodge for breakfast, after which you have the remainder of the day at leisure.

Lunch will be served in the lodge.

Later in the afternoon enjoy afternoon tea before embarking on your afternoon game drive. Enjoy drinks and snacks in the bush at sundown, before returning to the lodge for dinner.

DAY 3

Depart from the lodge on an early morning game-drive in open 4x4 vehicles, accompanied by your experienced game ranger (time permitting).

Return to the lodge for breakfast, followed by check-out formalities. Thereafter transfer to Port Elizabeth Airport to check-in and board your flight to Durban with lunch pack.

On arrival at Durban’s King Shaka International Airport, you are met and transferred approximately 45 minutes to Durban harbour where your cruise ship awaits your arrival.

South Africa’s seasons are the reverse of those in the northern hemisphere. Midwinter is June and midsummer is December and January. The climate varies from region to region but is generally mild throughout the year. Expect it to be hot during the day and much cooler in the evenings.

Pumba Private Game Reserve, located in the heart of the Eastern Cape’s malaria-free game viewing region, covers 6,500 hectares of privately-owned property in the Eastern Cape. Overlooking Lake Kariega, Pumba Private Game Reserve offers stunning views of the wilderness and water from every point.

After enjoying a welcome drink upon arrival, you will have free time in your room to freshen up. Later, rejoin at the main lodge and embark on your afternoon open vehicle game drive. Qualified English speaking game rangers will guide you through the bush, in search of the elusive ‘Big 5’ as well as other wildlife. After dark, spotlights are used, providing you with the opportunity to view nocturnal creatures and carnivores on the hunt.

This morning you will be woken before sunrise.

OVERLAND - EASTERN CAPE SAFARI - LALIBELA LENTABA

Disembark in Port Elizabeth and spend two nights at Lalibela Lentaba Lodge. Take part on several game drives into the bush where you will enjoy an up-close unobstructed view of Africa’s most iconic animals.

LALIBELA GAME RESERVE: Lentaba Lodge

Lentaba, the “lodge on the hillside”, sleeps up to 16 people in eight secluded thatched chalets, situated where magnificent indigenous gardens merge into the surrounding bush. Each en-suite unit has a private observation deck to make the most of the views over the valley bushveld. Each chalet has air-conditioning as well as a ceiling fan. The main lodge is decorated in a traditional African safari style and boasts a large lounge, viewing deck and a sunny swimming pool where you can spend a lazy afternoon. The rooms at Lentaba are nicely spread out and each one offers great views of the valley below. The lodge has various places where guests can sit and unwind. There are two decks with commanding views of the valley and waterhole, an inside lounge, as well as an outside lounge. Lentaba has three fireplaces that add to the great safari ambience that Lentaba is so well known for.
