OVERLAND-INSIDE ANGKOR WAT & HOI AN

Discover the shophouses, temples and French colonial buildings of Hoi An's ancient town before flying to Siem Reap to experience the magnificent Angkor Wat. This temple complex in Cambodia was built for King Suryavarman II in the early 12th century as his state temple and capital city. The temple is at the top of the high classical style of Khmer architecture and has become a symbol of Cambodia.

Special Note: This program is quite busy with lots of walking at times over uneven ground. For these reasons is not recommended for guests with mobility issues or who use a wheelchair, walker or cane. Any guests travelling with Portable Oxygen Concentrators (POC) or CPAP breathing machines should read further below for airline stipulations with regards to bringing this equipment on tour.

DAY 1 - May 5, 2023

Disembark in Da Nang where you will visit the Cham Museum. Here you will see many ancient stone objects that were carved by the Cham people.

Continue towards the ancient river town of Hoi An which his recognized as a World Heritage Site. This town has remained unchanged for centuries.

Enjoy a walking tour with your guide as well as brief visits to the Hoi An Ceramics Museum and a traditional merchant house.

Along the way you will also see the Japanese Covered Bridge, Ancient House and the Sea Goddess Temple.

Visit the Hoi An open market which offers a chance to see local products for sale followed by some free time for your own discovery of this charming town.

After a lunch of local favorites, stop for photos at Marble Beach where fishermen dry their round boats along the beach. Continue to visit the Hell Cave at Marble Mountain where each mountain is dedicated to an element.

Next, transfer to the Da Nang airport for the flight to Angkor Wat. A Cambodian visa will be arranged upon arrival in Siem Reap; therefore, you will need to bring one passport size photo with you. Once the visa is processed, you will meet with your guide and transfer to the hotel. The remainder of the day and dinner are at your leisure.

DAY 2 – May 6, 2023

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before transferring to Angkor Wat. This is the highest and most magnificent temple in Cambodia and is sure not to disappoint. Originally constructed as a Hindu temple dedicated to the god Vishnu for the Khmer Empire, it was gradually transformed into a Buddhist temple towards the end of the 12th century. Today it is considered the largest religious monument in the world.

Next drive to Bantey Srei, the beautiful “Women’s Citadel,” located 32km from Siem Reap town. This is the last major Khmer temple to be re-discovered in Cambodia.

After lunch at a local restaurant you will visit the Angkor Thom Complex and the South Gate of Angkor Thom - one of the main and beautiful access gates to the temples. You will see Bayon Temple which is one of the most impressive and mysterious temples emerging from the jungle - crowned with lotus flowers and dominated by 200 gigantic stone faces. Next you will move on to see the Terrace of the Elephants and the Terrace of the Leper King.

Another highlight is a visit to the famous Ta Prohm Temple, known for its forest atmosphere with enormous fig trees. This temple looks just as it did when the first European explorer arrived. You may recognize it as it’s also the location of many scenes filmed for Angelina Jolie’s blockbuster movie, Tomb Raider.

Following your unforgettable exploration of the temples, you will return to the hotel to freshen up before the evening’s entertainment. Transfer to a local restaurant for dinner and a traditional Apsara show. After dinner return to your hotel for the evening.

Note: During the visit of the temples, visitors should wear shirts or blouses covering your shoulders and arms and long skirts or trousers covering your legs (Miniskirts and shorts are not permitted).

Expected Weather:

Cambodia's climate can generally be described as tropical with seasonal monsoons. There are two distinct seasons, the rainy and dry. Temperatures during the rainy season, between June and October, average 81-95°F (27-35°C). The dry season is characterized by cool months, November to February, with temperatures averaging 63-81°F (17-27°C) and hot months, from March till May, which sees temperature range between 84-100°F (29-38°C).

What to Bring:

Light clothing made from natural fibers is the best clothing for the region along with good walking shoes

and a hat and sunscreen. Women visitors are not expected to wear skirts, but miniskirts and revealing

shorts may not be viewed as 'polite'. The best plan is to dress modestly like the locals do. Bring sandals

or slip-ons to take off easily when entering temples. A small collapsible umbrella is sensible for the rainy

season.

Water: Avoid tap water and drinks with ice in them. Drink mineral water and drinks in sealed containers. Water at the hotels in both Singapore and Siem Reap is potable.

Local Currency:

The Riel is the local currency, but the US Dollar is widely accepted and used in most transactions in

Cambodia. Credit cards, travellers cheques, foreign currencies are accepted in hotels and major banks. It is recommended to carry US Dollars in small denomination notes when shopping in the markets.

Electricity: 220 volts, 50Hz. We suggest bringing your own travel adaptor if you will have electronic devices.

Documents and Visa Requirements:

A passport that is valid at least 6 months after travel is required

A Cambodian Visa is included – photos are no longer required

Guests require a multiple entry Vietnam Visa for the cruise which will be applicable upon arrival in Ho Chi Minh City.

VERY IMPORTANT – The name on your cruise booking, passport and any visas if required, must all be exactly the same for flight ticket purchase for this program otherwise guests may be denied travel by flight. Please ensure that all documents are identical in spelling to the names provided for your cruise reservation including first, middle and last name. Failure to have the required documents ahead of time will result in denial of travel and guests will have to pay for any expenses incurred in order to not proceed with the program.

Please also make sure to bring an extra passport photo for the Cambodian Visa which is included in the cost of this program. The Visa will be issued when you arrive in Siem Reap.

Luggage Weight Restrictions:
