2018 Reunion Cruise: Celebrating 15 Years at Sea with our Well-Traveled Guests

By James Rodriguez, Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing

As one of the original 19 team members who founded Oceania Cruises in 2003, I am now thrilled to be celebrating 15 years at sea on our Oceania Club Reunion Cruise. I’ve been cruising New England on board Insignia with some of our most frequent guests, and it has been such a pleasure to hear the stories of their experiences with us over the years. One guest on board spent six months sailing around the world on her very first cruise with us, and she has come back to sail with us for more than 400 days since. Another guest, Sukey Rosenbaum, has sailed with us so many days – 931 to be exact – that she inspired the creation of our new President’s Circle level of Oceania Club.

One of my favorite experiences on each Reunion Cruise is joining guests on exclusive shore excursions created just for this special voyage. On this cruise I had the opportunity to explore Boston with Ms. Rosenbaum and several other guests. It was quite moving to walk in the footsteps of our forefathers along the Freedom Trail. Around every corner we discovered another site of a momentous event in America’s history, painstakingly preserved amidst the skyscrapers of a modern cosmopolitan city as a precious reminder of how this nation came to be: the Old South Meeting House where thousands of colonists gathered to protest the tea tax and launch the Boston Tea Party, the Old North Church where two lanterns signaled the British were coming by sea, the family home of patriot Paul Revere. Our guide had led visitors along this path for over 20 years, and his insights truly brought the history to life.

Traveling the world with family and friends is one of my greatest joys, and as I think of the sacrifices made by those early settlers in Boston, I cherish even more deeply the freedom to do so. What a fitting celebration cruise for Oceania Insignia Cruises’ 15 years at sea!
