Life in Sumbanese villages unfolds according to the rhythms and rituals of Marapu, an animistic faith, and the guidance of local shamans. In villages outside of Waingapu, you’ll spot traditional bamboo houses with thatched roofs and megalithic tombs and gain insight on the well-preserved culture.
